Welcome, Mike Wilson!

Like other prospects this season to join the Dust Devils, we welcome OF Mike Wilson, who was recently promoted to High-A from the ACL Angels. The story of the 24yo OF is a great one you will want to pay attention to and track.

Wilson was originally a 15th-round pick in the 2016 draft by the Red Sox from Colonia HS and declined to go and play college ball for NY State Stony Brook. The Brewers again drafted him in the 16th round of 2019 after spending three seasons in college. While in college, he posted an impressive .297/.365/—509 state line across 602PA with 19HR and 108RBIs.

The now mid-round pick showed up in a rookie ball in 2019 as a bright-eyed 21yo prospect for the Brewers and posted an exected .225/.307/.391 slash in 193PA in 47G. It's worth noting that in 2019 he did appear in one game with AAA San Antonio going 1/5 with a BB, Double, and 2K. Following the 2019 season was the wiped-out 2020 season due to COVID.

Now 23yo, Wilson played for Low-A Carolina Mudcats. In 25G, he posted a .188/.325/.391 line is good enough for an above-average .717OPS mark. He also posted a perfect FLD% in 182inning played between LF and RF. Wilson was released on August 30th, 2021, and the Angels signed him to a minor league contract on March 10th, 2022, and assigned him to Low-A Inland Empire 66ers, where he opened the season on the IL on June 30th; he was placed on a rehab assignment to the ACL Angels.

Now 24yo, and with a fresh start, Wilson took the rehab assignment incredibly well, playing in 5G going 7/14 to post a slash line .500/.611/1.357 for a 1.968OPS and the Dust Devils recently having Jordyn Adams promoted to AA; there was an opportunity for Wilson and the Dust Devils. This will be Wilson's first look at the competition in the NW league and the first stint at High-A or A+, where he checks in at 1.4 years older than most players at A+.

Wilson has played in one game for the Dust Devils, going ¼ and playing LF in his debut. Here's to a fresh start, a new beginning, and welcome to Tri-Cities, Mike!

The Dust Devils also welcomed back LHP Brett Killam within the last couple of weeks from AA, where he struggled to an 8.39ERA over seven starts, nine appearances, and 34.1IP. He will look to get right with the Dust Devils after going 5IP, with 4K, 0BB, and 2ER in his season debut with the club last week against Spokane.

The last bit of movement recently for the Dust Devils saw INF Kyle Kasser get 1-step away from the MLB as he got promoted to the AAA Salt Lake on 7/3. Since his promotion to AAA, he has played in 4G going 2/10, primarily playing 2B for the club. Congrats to Kyle as he approaches the MLB. Kyle was solid for the team in 46G, going 42/171, posting a .246/.326/.275 slash line with 9SB. The glove work for Kyle was good at 2B for the Dust Devils in 65inn. At the keystone, he posted a .974FLD% with 1E; he played the bulk of his time at 3B and spent 303inn at the hot corner posting a .947FLD% with 6E. Again, best of luck to Kyle with the Bees.
